Saturday June 17:
Nana came to our house around 11 a.m. Of course we needed to get a little more shopping in before we left so off to town we went. Had a late lunch (2:00) at Golden Coral. Ate way too much and everything was pretty good. BUT something made Nana sick.
The rest of the evening was spent packing the van and just trying to get some rest in before our departure time and poor Nana feeling like crap.
Everyone was in bed by midnight. Nana was wake at 1:30 A.M. ready to go and feeling better! But she let us all sleep till 3:30 when I woke and said we might as well get on the road. So we pulled out of the drive way at 4:30 A.M.
5 hours later we arrived at my brothers house in Baxley Georgia. We were a little early (we told them 11 am, but hey what's a sister for but to wake up her big brother!) We tried to take a long time getting there, I think we made 5 stops so we almost stopped every hour. :) We had breakfast about 7 am and all 4 of us ate for $10 and some change.. Good ole McDonald's. ;)
We pulled up and Curtis jumps out of the van and runs up to the window looking in for his Uncle Billy... Sooooo cute. Billy comes out and pretends to be awake. I know better. :) Spent the next hour catching up with him and checking out all the pretty plants in his yard. I sure wish I could make things grow as well as he does. But I would have to get my fingers dirty to do that!
His kids starting showing up soon after we arrived. Brandy and Katelyn were first toget there. Katelyn will be 2 in July and is the prettiest little thing ever. She just sat in Nana's lap and looked at her so sweetly. I went in to see if my sister-in-law needed any help (she cooks the best meals for us) but of course she had things under control. So I just chatted with her instead of work. Can you tell I am the baby of the family. :)
Candice came next. She is due any day with a sweet baby girl that I am sure they will name Angela (HAHAHAHAHA) and is looking great. It's been a hard pregnancy for her this time so she is very ready to have this baby girl already. Her husband and my husband went out in the game room to play pool. Billy started cooking ribs on the grill and spending time with nana.
Curtis was bored by now and ready to fish. He thinks Uncle Billy's house is the best place in the world to fish. I am not into fishing at all! But his cousin Candice took him out there to fish. and he caught his first EVER fish. It was a small spotted cat fish.
Dustin and his wife Danielle and their baby Chastiy arrived sometime during all this. Chastiy is 7 months old and looked too cute in her little sun dress.
Boy oh Boy will they have their hands full with all them girls down there. Billy and Debbie have 8 grand babies (with 1 more on the way) 4 live over in Al. 2 girls (one 7 one 5) and twin boys 4 that they don't get to see often and then the 3 girls that live within miles of them and the new baby girl on the way. Candice's little girl Alisa got there around noon in time to eat lunch with us and play with Curtis awhile. Lunch was wonderful BBQ ribs and some kind of red sausage they get down there, corn salad, baked beans, corn on the cob, fork beans, toss salad and french bread and a orange jello salad of some type and a wonderful brownie type thing for dessert. Oh my goodness was everything good! After lunch we took some pictures but not near enough so we have to plan a get together soon. It is so much funto have all the kids together.
We pulled out of there about 1:30. Decided to go to Brunswick and hit 95 south to head on to Orlando.
I think we got to our motel about 6:30. We stayed at the Staybridge Suites in Orlando (2 miles from Universal Studios). We loved our room 431.. We had a parking lot view but did not care at all. Our room had a queen bed in it and a nice bathroom and walk in closet. Nana and Curts room had 2 double beds with a good size closet and bathroom. The kitchen/living area was nice and had a pull out sofa bed as well. We were right across from the elevator which was great for our worn out feet later in the week and we did not hear the noise from it at all.
We had bought our passes for the parks online and needed to pick up the hard copy at the parks so decided to head on over there and take care of it. I was prepared to pay the $10 parking fee for our first time in the park but was very happy to pull up and all the gates were closed at 7 PM. SO PARKED FOR FREE!!!
We parked in Jurassic Park 501 cause we didn't know any better. Rode elevator to level 3 to head to attractions. Walked in and headed to Universal. Last time we were here was 1994 or 96. There was no city walk back then. Oh WOW has things changed. It was PACKED! But we got down there and tried to get our tickets. It would not print ours. But printed moms out just fine. So over to Guest services we went. Again, they could not get them to print. I was in a panic already! But finally they went to the lobby (where ever that is) and got them printed for us!
We went ahead and entered the park it was about 8:30 now and headed over to vacation services to get our pictures taken for our annual passes. NO line at all and would have been really fast except they had an older man working alone who could not type! He had to hunt and peck every letter. @@ Once we were done we started to leave (we should have left but we were all so excited)so walked around a bit and saw only a 15 minute wait for Shrek. The pre show to this show is WAY TO LONG! Nana was so worn out by the time we got in the show to sit down that she was just too beat to enjoy the show. Plus they put the stationary seating right up front and that made the show way too loud for her. Made a note that on our next trip we will take ear plugs for her! The rest of us loved the show. Nana was very worn out and I felt so bad for not thinking about the wheel chair for this first night. I worried she would be beat the rest of the trip and not be able to go but she is one tough tropper and was ready on Monday night to go have a blast!
We then made the long walk back out of the park and to the car. Was back at the motel at 10:40. We had chips and cheese for a late dinner. Everyone was in bed by 11:30.
